On Saturday, July 9^th, IBF Super Middleweight champion Lucian Bute’s (28-0-0, 23 KO) lifelong dream will become a reality.  Lucian will defend his IBF title for an 8^th consecutive time, this time in front of his Home Country fans of Romania, where he captured Athlete of the Year honors in 2008, 2009 and 2010.  Lucian will lace up the gloves against fellow undefeated Super Middleweight boxer and IBF #1 rated Mandatory Challenger Jean-Paul Mendy (29-0-1 16 KO) from France. EuroPlus Computers S.R.L. going to be the lead organizer in collaboration with InterBox and Star Boxing.

Lucian Bute will be disputing his second bout of 2011, after having scored a 10th round TKO over a very game Brian Magee last March 19th in his Showtime Championship Boxing debut.  The July 9^th IBF title bout will be held outside Lucian’s Showtime contract and his American fans can count on seeing him again live in action this Fall. Lucian is overjoyed at the fact he will defend his title in Romania.  “This is my dream come true.  The Romanian people have followed my career very closely since the very beginning and to share this joy of defending my title in front of them gives me Goosebumps!  I always felt their support from afar, but on July 9^th they will be right there, in the Arena, to encourage me”.

Jean Bedard, President of Groupe Sportscene Inc., is proud to have arranged for his Champion to box in Romania.  “It was important to Lucian to fight in Romania.  We worked extremely hard, took the time necessary to close out a very fair deal with Joe DeGuardia of Star Boxing, Inc. and now with the excellent collaboration from Romanian Boxing Federation President Mr. Rudel Obreja all is in place to present a historic boxing event on July 9^th.  This event will mark another milestone in Lucian’s career and in the history of InterBox.  We are happy to have contributed in this venture”.

IBF #1 rated Mandatory contender Jean-Paul Mendy has set his sights on succeeding at something that all Lucian’s past opponents have failed to do: To beat him.  But much like Bute, Mendy is not familiar with losing as well.  Undefeated in 30 professional bouts, the French boxer is ecstatic to be disputing the first World Championship bout of his career.

PROTV will broadcast the event live throughout Romania. In Canada, the bout/event will be broadcast live on PPV Television (Canal Indigo, Bell TV, and SHAW) as well as throughout the 50 La Cage aux Sports Restaurants in Quebec.
